Some different ways that drilling can impact a community are that then there is loud noise and it’s REALLY annoying and makes it hard to sleep, and it might lower the freshwater supply in your community. It could also block space in your town and it might affect the groundwater, as well as the quality of the soil. An earthquake can affect a community in many ways. One of these ways is that the homes could crack and fall down, and buildings could collapse. You could get injured, or lose things that are important to you. Earthquakes could cut power, and water supply as well. I believe that yes, businesses do have a responsibility to protect the environment because if they cause a problem, it is their fault, so they need to clean it up.

Earthquakes affect communities in different ways. For example, it might uproot trees. Or, if the earthquake’s really big, it might shift houses. Fracking is one of the ways to extract gas. In my understanding, fracking is when the earth's crust is broken by water, under high pressure, and gas comes out from there. As for me, fracking is not very good for our planet, because when gas particles get into rivers and lakes, from which people drink water. And because people drink water diluted with gas they develop cancer, it can also cause birth defects. Also, a lot of water is spent on fracking, which after fracking cannot be used anywhere. And after all, most earthquakes in the world are due to fracking. Earthquakes are very bad for the Earth. Due to earthquakes, houses are destroyed, cracks appear in the ground, and in some cases even tsunamis can occur. As for me, people who are engaged in fracking should somehow help people whose water is polluted with gas, those people who have earthquakes due to fracking, to collapse their houses. Fracking is when a company drills down hundreds to thousands of feet into the earth’s crust to extract fossil fuels and oil. First, they drill straight down, and then at a 90º angle, they pump water, chemicals, and sand down into the pipe to fracture the surrounding rock so they can extract the oil of fossil fuels. This can cause water contamination, earthquakes, and sinkholes.

The plates that make up the ground cause earthquakes when they have big faults. If plates when big faults move past each other their jagged edges will hit each other and cause an earthquake.
ReplyDeleteFracking is where they put a pipe in the ground until they get to the gas then they make the pipe go horizontal. Then they let out a fracking mixture. Then they get rocks that the mixture made and we use those for showers and to fuel cars.

The plates that are in the ground cause earthquakes. If the plates hit each other underground then that causes earthquakes. With fracking, you put a long pipe in the ground until they get to gas and then they turn it horizontally. Then the fracking mixture gets let out and then all of the oil fuels our cars.
