Rhino Poaching
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I learned from this article is that there are only about 28,000 rhinos left in the wild, and that around 90% of them are in South Africa.
Something that surprised me was the amount of poaching. It makes me really sad to know that poachers killed at least 1,215 rhinos last year, especially coming up from 13 in 2007.
There are no words that I did not know the meaning of. Something that I can learn from the Black Mamba’s example is that they may not be able to stop poachers with force. But they can stop them with education. And you can also educate people about the poaching of rhinos.
Who knows what change you can bring by just saying a simple sentence?

For decades, rhinos have been hunted by crime syndicates for their horns, which are then sold on the black market. Today, they are one of the most endangered species on the planet – that’s why we protect them. Hemmersbach Rhino Force fights poachers with night vision, stealth boats, drones, and if necessary also uses armed force. Patrolling the bush, their rangers risk their lives every day to ensure the rhinos’ and other wildlife’s survival.
ReplyDeleteTo ensure that rhinos will continue to roam Africa’s steppe in the future, Hemmersbach Rhino Force has started the Cryovault project. They’re collecting frozen rhino sperm, egg cells as well as other genetic material and cryopreserve them in their biobank, soon the largest cryovault for African rhino genetics in the world. This allows them to conserve the genetic diversity of rhinos by enabling their assisted breeding – the ultimate safety net against genetic diversity loss.

DeleteI was very surprised that in some parts of Asia rhinoceros horn is considered a cure for diseases.Although scientific studies have shown that this is not the case and that a couple of pounds can be sold for 65,000 dollars. I learned that there are such brave women who are ready to protect animals from poachers even without weapons. They organized the Black Mambas. Earlier, I thought that the black mamba is a snake, but it turns out there is still such an organization! Using the example of Black Mambas, we can understand that everyone can help animals and improve this world!

I am very sorry for all the rhinos because there are not so many of them left, about 30,000 and I found out that 90% live in South Africa! I also learned that there has long been a great demand for rhino horns in Asia. They are used for jewelry and traditional Chinese medicine. Medicines made from rhino horns are highly prized and found in traditional Chinese recipes, including elixirs of longevity and "immortality." Due to the existence of this market, rhinos are threatened with extinction. Therefore, I would like everyone who reads this letter, please take care of rhinos, take care of nature, take care of our world! 💐🌹🦏🦏❤️❤️❤️

I agree if they died out that would be horrible. Yes people do kill rhinos for money sadly.
DeleteBrynn-Colorado US
It is good that you learned about how people should protect the rhinos. Not a lot of people know much about rhinos. Also, I think it is good that you hope poachers should learn to love and to protect the rhinos.
DeleteLuke - Colorado
I agree! Good job.

What surprised me the most was that people were killing rhinos with very little money left.
DeleteDovhopol Liza, Kyiv
1. I learned that rhinos may become extinct within 30 years. I found this interesting because I always thought rhinos were everywhere.
ReplyDelete2. It surprised me how much a rhino horn can be worth when it's so small. It's only a few pounds.
3. Black Mambas: a group of mostly black females who fight poaching
4.I can learn that standing up for animals is very important. We need to start doing this or wild animals will no longer exist.

Rhinos are amazing animals, and everyone knows it) I didn't know much about rhinos, because I knew it before. But I was very upset by the fact that about 1215 rhinos were killed last year (I would really like to reduce the number of animal killings. And also, I learned that there are only 28,000 rhinos left in the world. And the fact that almost all of them live in South Africa More precisely, 90% of them. Animals and wildlife are very interesting for me and I want to know more about it!

I learned several things about rhino poaching as well. I learned that a rhino horn can be sold for upwards of $300,000 dollars even if its really light! This is why we have to solve Rhino poaching because they are becoming if not already endangered.

Rhinos are an endangered species, so I believe that helping them to live on.Poachers want to make money on this, in principle, this is not surprising. The project occn class, the main thing of helping nature.

ReplyDelete1. What did you learn from this article?
ReplyDeleteI learned that if us as a nation doesn’t do something about rhino poaching, my kids and their kids may never know what a rhino is.
2. What surprised you ? (this must be different from what you learned)
The thing that surprised me the most about this article is that there are people who want to kill a whole population of innocent rhinos just for the money!
3. Is there a word that you did not know the meaning of? What is the definition of this word?
At first, I didn't know what poaching meant, but now I know that poaching means illegally killing an animal.
4. What can you learn from the Black Mamba's example?
One thing I already know is that there are very strong women out there doing very good things. It is NOT just men! :)

1. What did you learn?
ReplyDeleteI learned that rhinos live in Asia and Africa. And that White rhinos live in Africa only and they weight 2,000 kilograms. They live 45-50 years in the wild.
2. What surprised you ?
That Black rhinos have two horns. And that there only 50 Javan rhinos left.
3. What vocabulary word did you not know? What is the definition?
Herbivores, which means that animals only eat plants, like fruits and grass. Keratin, material which is the same stuff that your hair and fingernails are made of.
4. What can you learn from the Black Mamba's example?
The Black Mamba's project aimed at social uplifting meaning that people are being eyes and ears with notebooks instead of watching and studying rhinos.
Isn't it crazy that there is only 50 Javan rhinos left. I think that number really brings the problem to life. 45-50 sounds like such a sort lifetime.

DeleteI learned that once the poachers are done poaching the rhinos, they would start poaching the elephants.
ReplyDeleteSomething that surprised me was the fact that there were 23 women, and only 3 men, but the men were in a picture!
A word that was interesting was “bush”, and the definition of “bush” is a bunk of undergrowth , like grass, bushes, and flowers.
I can learn from the Black Mamba's example that to never stop force with force. I learned this because all of the Black Mambas are unarmed.

ReplyDelete1. What did you learn from this article?
I learned beyond many thing that there is a way to solve huge problems without violence or bad will
2. What surprised you ? (this must be different from what you learned)
It surprised me that they were unnamed even with the large chance the poachers would have some sort of weapons
3. Is there a word that you did not know the meaning of? What is the definition of this word?
There were no words that i found that i did not understand
4. What can you learn from the Black Mamba's example
Well there are many things we can learn from them but one that really stood out to me is "They won't stop unless they run out. After rhinos, they will go for the elephants. After the elephants, they will go for other things," this shows that if we let them continue they won't stop until everything is gone.
